Start here A guidebook chapter
What is Semax, exactly?
Semax is a real substance. The hard question is what it can do for a person.
Semax facts: September 30, 2026.
A short chain, made in a lab
Semax is a peptide, a small chain whose links are the units that form proteins.
Its chain has seven parts and copies a piece of ACTH, a hormone that helps the body respond to stress.
A hormone is a chemical signal that the body produces. Copying a piece of it does not tell us what Semax will do in a person.
Extra parts were added with the aim of slowing its breakdown in the body.
That describes the substance. It does not answer whether a treatment fits the problem that brought you here.
Why people talk about the brain
In rats, Semax raised a natural protein that helps nerve cells live and connect.
The way it works in people remains unclear.
Small studies in healthy adults found changes in brain-scan signals, without showing a gain in daily memory or focus.
A useful question for a visit is: what would count as a real change in my daily life?
A medicine somewhere is not a US approval
As of September 30, 2026, Semax is registered as nose drops in Russia, as described in the FDA review.
As of that date, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had approved neither a US Semax medicine nor its prescribing information.
Prescribing information is the detailed document often called the official drug label. It tells a doctor what a medicine is approved to treat, how it is used and what risks are known.
The FDA is a US agency with responsibility for reviewing medicines. Keep the country and the product in view when reading a claim about approval.
Brief source notes
This review brings together the substance, its history and the limits of the research.

Keep this in mind.
Carry the problem you want help with into the visit, along with the name Semax. Ask what evidence connects the two.
